A 50th birthday photo booth at Stone Mill Inn
79 photo sessions. Open until 1 AM.
November 7, 2026. A 50th birthday party at Stone Mill Inn, the heritage stone hotel on Merritt Street in St. Catharines, with about 75 guests from teenagers to grandparents. We had our self-serve booth built by 4 PM on the Rustic Wood & Lights backdrop. From 7:30 PM to 1 AM, guests tapped the screen, posed and pulled black-and-gold 50th strips out of the printer: 79 sessions by the end of the night.

A milestone birthday, and a crowd of every age
The host wanted a booth the whole room could use without anyone standing beside it, with the 50th on every print and no last call before the party itself ended. The guest list ran from teenagers to grandparents, so the booth had to make sense to all of them in one tap.
- About 75 guests, from teenagers to grandparents
- A booth the guests run themselves, with no attendant
- A print for everyone, with the 50th on every strip
- Running until the party ended at 1 AM
- Delivered early, at 4 PM, hours before the first guest
- One spot on the floor plan and one outlet from the venue
On the spot she marked, tested before the guests
The host sent us Stone Mill Inn's floor plan with the booth's corner marked, then asked us to come at 4 PM instead of 6:30. We built the booth on the Rustic Wood & Lights backdrop, set the prop table beside it, and tested the camera, the flash and the printer before the first guest walked in.
What guests found at the booth
- The white DSLR booth: touchscreen, mirrorless camera and studio flash
- The Rustic Wood & Lights backdrop, warm wood under a string of bulbs
- A prop table: cowboy hats, top hats, leis, sunglasses and RIP 40s, Fifty and 49ish signs
- Unlimited 2×6 strips on a black-and-gold 50th template
79 sessions, one very loud 50th
Friends holding big-head cut-outs of the guest of honour, cowboy hats and top hats from the prop table, and a RIP 40s sign that made the rounds all night. Five frames from the gallery:

The strips
Every session printed a 2×6 strip: three frames over a black-and-gold 50th design with the birthday line at the bottom. The host picked the design from our template library and we set the text before the party.
What a 50th actually needs from a booth
Guests run it themselves
A birthday crowd mixes ages and moves around all night. Nobody waits for an attendant: they tap the screen, pose for the countdown and hold the strip seconds later. Self-serve starts at $450, delivered, set up and picked up.
The birthday on every strip
A strip with the name and the number on it goes on the fridge, not in a drawer. Pick a design from our backdrops and templates and we set the text before the party.
Open until the party ends
Self-serve runs until 11 PM. This party went to 1 AM, so the host added two late hours at $50 each, booked ahead so we planned the pickup around them.
Want someone running the booth instead? A staffed DSLR booth starts at $750 for two hours, and the Magic Mirror talks guests through every pose.

About birthday photo booths in St. Catharines
Is a photo booth worth it for a 50th birthday party?
At this one it was. About 75 guests ran 79 sessions on our self-serve booth at Stone Mill Inn, and every session printed a strip with the 50th on it. A booth gives a crowd of mixed ages something to do together, and every guest goes home holding a print.
How much does a birthday photo booth cost in St. Catharines?
Our self-serve booth is $450 for digital photos, $550 with unlimited prints, and $600 for Complete, which adds an audio guest book. Each runs until 11 PM with delivery, setup and same-night pickup included, and late hours are $50 an hour up to 1 AM. A staffed DSLR booth starts at $750 for two hours. Prices plus HST.
Can the photo booth stay until 1 AM?
Yes. Self-serve runs until 11 PM, and late hours are $50 an hour up to 1 AM. This 50th ran until 1 AM: the host booked the two extra hours ahead, so we planned the pickup around them.
Have you set up at Stone Mill Inn?
Yes. This 50th birthday was at Stone Mill Inn on Merritt Street on November 7, 2026, and we had worked the room before. The host marked the booth's spot on the venue's floor plan, and the booth needs one power outlet nearby.
Can the strips have the birthday person's name and age on them?
Yes. You pick a design from our template library and we personalize the text with the name, the number and the date. This party used a black-and-gold 50th design that ran on every strip.
